The World's Largest Offshore Wind Power Company Proposed To Invest More Than 11 Billion UD Dollars In Hai Phong

Orsted Group (Denmark) - The world's largest offshore wind power company proposed to invest the offshore wind power project in Hai Phong with total capacity of 3,900 MW, estimated total investment about 11.9 to 13.6 billion US Dollars.

On November 2nd, 2021, Mr. Nguyen Duc Tho - Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee welcomed and worked with the delegation of the Danish Embassy in Vietnam, led by Mr. Troels Jakobsen, Commercial Counselor regarding the investment of an offshore wind power project studied and surveyed by Orsted Group in Hai Phong.

The proposed project has total capacity of 3,900 MW and is divided into 03 phases, the wind output is expected to be about 13,665,600 MWh/year; the capacity of installed wind turbine is expected to be about 20 MW, tower height from 150 - 200 m.
 

Accordingly, the project will be placed in offshore, the south east is 14km from Bach Long Vi island, the north west is 36km from Long Chau islands, 88km from Cat Ba island, 76km from Tien Lang district, 74km from Kien Thuy district, 70km from Do Son district. Estimated total investment is about 11.9 to 13.6 billion US Dollars.

The project is evaluated in line with the orientation of Vietnam's National Energy Development Strategy, with the view of prioritizing the exploitation and use of renewable energy sources.

Mr. Troels Jakobsen expressed that the friendly cooperation between Denmark and Hai Phong in the coming time will continue to be promoted in such fields as economy, trade, investment, education, tourism, and green economy transformation.

Appreciating Orsted Group's capacity in offshore wind power development, Vice President Nguyen Duc Tho affirmed that he would pay attention and create favorable conditions for the Investors.

Orsted is a Danish government-owned enterprise, and is currently the world's largest offshore wind developer, its revenue was 8.6 billion USD, profit was 3 billion USD in 2020. Orsted currently supplies green energy for more than 15 million people worldwide, and is expected to double that number by 2025.

Previously in June 2021, Ms. Louise Holmsgaard - Interim Representative of the Danish Embassy in Vietnam and leaders of Hai Phong People's Committee had a meeting to discuss and introduce the information that this group wanted to invest in an offshore wind power project in Hai Phong.
