Attitude Is Everything

06/29/2021

Attitude is an all-encompassing term that defines your outlook and approach to life. It includes your inner thoughts and outward expressions. In the end, attitude determines everything you say and do – and what you say and do determine your success.

Having a positive attitude means being optimistic about situations, interactions, and yourself. People with positive attitudes remain hopeful and see the best even in difficult situations. In contrast, those with negative attitudes may be more pessimistic and disagreeable, and typically expect the worst outcome in tough situations.

Why Your Attitude Is Everything?

Saying that attitude is everything is more than a feel-good quote out of a self-help book or the caption on an inspirational poster; it’s a fundamental truth.

1. Attitude determines your commitment
Your opinions on something decide how much work you put into it. If you don’t value an activity, then you won’t put as much effort and time into it. If you believe that you’ll fail, you’ll try less and actually fail, making it a self-fulfilling prophecy. However, if you believe that you’re capable, you might be surprised at how capable you actually are.

2. People match their attitudes to the attitudes of others
People have a tendency to reflect the attitudes surrounding them. If you are optimistic and hopeful about working, others will pick up on it and also act similarly. On the other hand, if you are pessimistic and believe things can’t work out, this negative attitude will trickle in others too.

3. Your tone sends a stronger message than your words
What you say to others isn’t nearly as important as how you say it. In response to a flawed idea, you can say “No, that’ll never work out because of x,y,z,...” or “That’s an interesting idea. It could work if x,y,z,... was changed”. Both are rejections, but the second one sends a more positive response. The first has a critical tone while the second sounds more accepting and enthusiastic, which signals people that you’re interested in working with them.

A Change In Attitude Might Just Be The Solution To Your Problems

We all have a choice. We can choose an inner dialogue of self-encouragement and self-motivation, or we can choose one of self-defeat and self-pity. It’s a power we all have. Our attitude has a tremendous impact on who we are, what we do, and who we become. Sow an attitude, reap an action. Sow enough actions, reap a habit. Sow a habit, reap your character and your future.

Each of us encounters hard times, hurt feelings, heartache, and physical and emotional pain and  and we are all going through a difficult time by effects of the Covid-19 pandemic,... The key is to realize it’s not what happens to you that matters; it’s how you choose to respond.

While having a positive attitude doesn’t necessarily make you less stressed, it can equip you with the tools you need to cope with stress in a healthier way.

Always have a positive attitude and believe. Whether it’s at work or at home, think less about why you can’t do something, and instead remind yourself that the reasons why you can do it. The first step to success is to know that it’s possible, and the second step is to do it. Even in the toughest times, remember: If others have done it, you can do too.
